Read time: less than 1 minute

This time of year puts pressure on businesses to change their tone.

  • More urgency.

  • More promotion.

  • More “end of year” language.

The software company Basecamp doesn’t do that.

Not because they hate Christmas (at least, I don’t think they do)…

The OG Grinch

They do it because they don’t abandon their values for seasonal sales.

Their company has been consistent for years:

  • Calm over chaos

  • Sustainable work over hustle

  • Challenging conventional wisdom

  • Respecting people’s time and focus

So when Black Friday and the holidays roll around every year, and everyone is trying to boost volume, Basecamp just carries on as usual.

  • No seasonal gimmicks.

  • No forced warmth or off-brand language.

Values aren’t seasonal. You either stick to them or you don’t.

And when you do, your brand builds credibility and trust.
