Breaking Free from a Slump

A few quick pointers to boost your mood and productivity

Read time: 1 minute

ā€œin a slumpā€

Such a vivid phrase.

It brings to mind…

decline,

depression,

disempowerment.

Our to-do list feels…

daunting,

draining,

dismal.

I’ve found myself there more than a few times.

For me, it’s usually caused by one of two things (or both):

Lack of clarity → not knowing which direction to take

Burnout → doing too much at once and not resting

How to Get Out of a Slump

What I used to do was keep plugging away…

try to work harder…

hoping to push through the slump.

Unfortunately, that method has failed more often than it has helped.

So I’ve learned a few good tricks over the years…

Perhaps they will be of use to you too.

I like to call this the…

Triple-R Slump Slayin’ Trifecta

(Yeah, not bad… let’s go with that šŸ˜†)

1. Relax

Whatever relaxation means to you…

  • Meditation, art, dance, yoga

  • Spending time with family and friends

  • Watching sitcoms and stand-up comedy

2. Reflect

Look at your accomplishments…

  • Projects you are proud of

  • People you have helped

  • Nice things they say about you (pro tip: collect these to look at when needed)

3. Remember

This too shall pass…

When it rains, we know the sun will shine again.

It’s important to have patience and self-compassion and not beat yourself up about it.

What Does This Have to Do with Branding?

Not a whole lot.

But I’ll tell you one thing...

In this INSANELY fast and stressful world…

It’s WAY too easy to lose focus and burn out.

Every solopreneur on the planet needs to look after themselves...

or they won’t be branding much of anything šŸ˜‰

So next time you find yourself in this situation, why not try the Triple-R Slump Slayin’ Trifecta?

Or maybe another method works for you. Reply and let me know, would ya?

P.S. Want some good stand-up comedy? Here’s a set I’ve watched at least three times already! (psst… it includes a story about a Florida man who tried to rob a Wendy’s with an Alligator!)
