I first saw a graphic like this many years ago.

And I was surprised at how well it worked.

Our brains consider more prominent elements as more important.

We naturally look first to the biggest, boldest, and most visually interesting elements on a page.

So the next time you’re designing something…

Determine the order in which you want to present the information.

Consider what you want your readers to focus on first… second… third…

Make more important objects larger and more pronounced.

Make lesser important objects smaller and less pronounced.

You have the power to guide your viewers’ attention and help them better understand your message.
