๐Ÿคจ You Don't Own Your Brand

Read time: 2 minutes

You don't own your brand; your audience does.

You can only do your best to influence how they see you.

Brand = Reputation

โ€œYour brand isn't what you say it is. It's what they say it is.โ€

ย โ€“ Marty Neumeier, author of The Brand Gap

We must present ourselves in the best way possible to build positive impressions in the minds of others.

How Can You Build a Great Reputation?

  • Build rapport with all of your connections.

  • Use a design style that attracts your intended audience.

  • Keep your messaging and identity consistent.

  • Use the language of your ideal clients.

  • Be kind, empathetic, and generous.

  • Respond promptly to messages.

  • Offer a great product.

  • Always overdeliver.

How Do You Want to Be Seen?

How do you want people to describe your business to others?

Pick three words:

Are you reliable, helpful, approachable, warm, adventurous, fast, fun, friendly, formal, fierce, futuristic, trendy, cool, creative, confident, controversial, offbeat, energetic, mysterious, luxurious, elegant, simple, safe, stylish, sophisticated, innovative, authoritative, rustic, or holistic?

...or something else?

Ingrain these three words words in your mind.

Whether you are naming a product, building a website, pitching your services, or designing an adโ€ฆ

Everything you do should work toward being seen in this way.
