Your Brand Isn’t Broken, It’s Just Missing This
You’re closer than you think to a brand that actually works.
Read time: 2 minutes
If I could go back in time—besides telling myself to buy Bitcoin—I’d hand myself this list.
These are the lessons that took me years to learn. Please save yourself the stress.
1. Clarity Converts
If you can’t explain what you do in 20 seconds, it’s not clear enough.
Trying to be clever often results in confusion. And confused people don’t click… they close tabs.
2. Consistent Details Build Trust
Branding lives in every touchpoint: emails, DMs, and client calls.
People notice when you show up the same way every time. They also notice when you cancel last minute or go MIA between projects.
3. Values Drive Loyalty
Pick 2–3 values your brand actually lives by… not just nice-sounding words.
A copywriter who stands for clarity writes with precision.
A designer who values empathy listens well and designs with people in mind.
When those values show up in your work, the right people find you and stick with you.
4. Personality Wins
Professional doesn’t mean boring. Your tone, style, and quirks are what make people feel something.
Don’t sand the edges off your personality. People want to buy from people.
5. People Buy Outcomes
No one wakes up thinking, “I hope someone sells me a strategy session today.” They want what it gets them: confidence, clarity, or better sleep. Sell that, not the session.
A personal trainer doesn’t sell reps. They sell the ability to lift your kids and your groceries in one trip 💪
6. Stories Moves People
A great story sticks longer than any feature list. Nike doesn’t explain shoe tech. They show a 3-minute ad that makes you cry about your own untapped potential.
If you’ve lived through what your clients are facing, that’s the story to tell.
7. Show Through Action
Don’t just say “we care.” Prove it! Jay Clouse of Creator Science doesn’t just claim to support creators. He spotlights smaller ones, interviews them, and shares playbooks that most people would charge for.
Communities grow around what’s shown, not said.
8. Great Taste Is Learned
Taste isn’t innate. It’s built up over time.
Learn the fundamentals.
Study the best in your field.
Pay attention to what draws you in.
Better taste leads to better design—and better design leads to trust, recognition, and premium pricing.
9. Stand for Something (and Against Something)
Strong brands have opinions.
Mailchimp stayed indie when the others chased investors.
Louis C.K. skipped networks and sold specials only on his site.
Know what you don’t want, and be confident saying no. It refines your positioning into something unforgettable.
10. Real Differentiation Is Emotional
The best brands leave people with a feeling, not just a deliverable.
“They actually listened.”
“They made me feel seen.”
“They asked the questions no one else thought to ask.”
That’s the stuff people share in their group chats—not your feature list. When you show up like that, word-of-mouth becomes your marketing department… and it works weekends, too.
If your brand needs to actually work and not just look good, I can help you make that happen. Just hit reply… it’s right up there 👆
